Hip Replacement in Israel
A hip replacement surgery (also known hip endoprosthesis) is an effective way to restore lost lower limb function and relieve pain. Indications for the procedure include:
- Severe damage to the hip joint
- Degenerative-dystrophic diseases (arthrosis, arthritis)
- Rheumatoid arthritis
- Hip fractures
Hip replacements can be either total or partial. The decision regarding the exact nature of the procedure and type of prosthesis that will be used is taken by the treating surgeon based on results of X-ray scans. Prostheses head sizes differ based on size of joint and patient's weight), and typically consist of a ceramic head and a titanium base, in some cases additional surgical cement is used.
