Tel Aviv Sourasky Medical Center (Ichilov Hospital) is the third-largest hospital in Israel. The 1,500-bed complex employs more than 3,500 medical and technical personnel. Its staff includes more than 800 world-renowned professors and physicians, who do not only work at the hospital but also teach at Tel Aviv's University’s Faculty of Medicine and run highly respected private practices. Every year the center’s experts see close to 2 million patients (both local and international), about 400 thousand of whom are admitted as in-patients, and perform over 35 thousand operations.
Ichilov also serves as an academic medical center, providing a scientific and practical base for Tel Aviv University’s Faculty of Medicine. Varied scientific and clinical research, the results of which directly benefit the patients, is constantly conducted at the hospital.
The Sourasky Medical Center is comprised of several buildings (main building, maternity hospital, children's hospital, etc.) located in close proximity to one another. This allows for fast and efficient diagnostics; when necessary, professional consultations by multi-profile specialists are quickly arranged so decisions regarding the course of treatment can be made without unnecessary delays.
Ichilov's Dana-Dwek Children's Hospital is known worldwide for its unique operations and impressive track record of treating oncological diseases. The complex’s surgical department is also extremely well-regarded. Staff by excellent Israeli surgeons, it successfully performs the most complicated operative procedures (including innovative orthopedic and complex oncological surgeries that help eliminate tumors in hard-to-reach locations).
